What to see

  • Zone A woods: together with the trees of Meiji Jingu next door, they form a dense green forest.
  • Zone B: home to a running track and an open-air stage, plus a water garden with three fountains 15–30 m high.
  • Oda Field (athletics stadium): the venue for the opening ceremony and events of the 1964 Tokyo Paralympics.
  • Olympic memorial dormitory: inside the Harajuku gate, at the back on the right. It housed Dutch athletes in 1964 and has been a café since 9 April 2026.

History

The site began as an army drill ground. After the war it became housing for US forces, then the athletes' village for the Tokyo Olympics, and later a park.
