Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Japan Unlocking (https://japanunlocking.com) collects when you visit, why, and the choices you have. We keep it short and honest. If anything here is unclear, please contact us.

The short version

• We do not ask you to create an account or hand over personal details.
• We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and does not identify you.
• We show ads through Google AdSense. Google and other ad vendors may use cookies to serve them. You can turn off personalized ads in Google's Ads Settings.
• We use affiliate links. When you click one, the partner site (for example a hotel booking site) may set its own cookies — see below.
• Our host keeps standard server logs to run and secure the site.

Information we collect

We do not collect names, email addresses, or payment information through this website. There is no login and no newsletter sign-up at this time.

Like almost every website, our hosting provider (Cloudflare Pages) automatically records basic technical information when a page is served — such as your IP address, browser type, and the page requested. This is used to deliver the site, prevent abuse, and keep it secure. We do not use these logs to identify individual visitors.

Cookies

Japan Unlocking does not set its own tracking cookies. Cloudflare may set essential cookies needed for security and performance. Advertising cookies set by Google and other ad vendors are covered under "Advertising" below.

When you click an affiliate link and go to a partner website, that partner may set cookies on their own site to record that you arrived from us. Those cookies are governed by the partner's privacy policy, not ours.

Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you book or buy through them, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Our partners may include hotel and activity booking services such as Booking.com, Agoda, Rakuten Travel, and Klook. See our Affiliate Disclosure for details.

Analytics

To learn which guides are useful, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics. A small script reports the page you viewed, the site that sent you, your country, your browser and device type, and how fast the page loaded. It does not use cookies or local storage and does not fingerprint you, so we cannot identify or follow individual visitors (how Cloudflare Web Analytics works).

Advertising

We use Google AdSense to show ads. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.

You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google's Ads Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendors' cookies at www.aboutads.info. Google explains how it uses information from sites that use its services here.

If you visit from the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, Google's consent message asks for your choice first, and advertising cookies are only used if you agree.

Third-party services

• Cloudflare Pages — hosting and content delivery.
• Cloudflare Web Analytics — cookieless visit counts (see above).
• Google Fonts — some typefaces are loaded from Google's servers, which receive your IP address and browser details when a page loads (Google's privacy policy).
• Affiliate partners (e.g. Booking.com, Agoda, Rakuten Travel, Klook) — only when you click one of their links.
• Google AdSense — advertising (see "Advertising" above).
• Google Analytics — not active yet; listed here for transparency because we may add it later.

Your choices

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. You can also opt out of interest-based advertising at optout.aboutads.info. Cloudflare Web Analytics sets no cookies; blocking scripts from static.cloudflareinsights.com stops it entirely.

Children

This site is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site grows — for example if we change our analytics or advertising partners. The "last updated" date at the top always reflects the current version.
